Communications Officer and Executive Committee Member – Global Network on Financial Geography

Updated: Dec 24, 2023

We are looking for a volunteer to join FinGeo team!

The Global Network on Financial Geography (FinGeo) is an open and interdisciplinary network of academics, practitioners and experts interested in research on the spatiality of money and finance and its implications for the economy, society, and nature. The inaugural FinGeo Executive Committee was established in August 2016, with the website launched in March 2017 (www.fingeo.net ). Since then the Network has published 13 working papers, awarded dissertation prizes, and organized many events, including the forthcoming First FinGeo Spring School in Brussels. Our membership has grown to over 450 members from nearly 50 countries. The Executive Committee members contribute to FinGeo on a voluntary basis, free of charge, using financial resources from their own institutions, and sharing financial resources secured through research network grants.

The Network is now looking for a new Communications Officer to join the Executive Committee and lead its communications activities. The person will have a unique opportunity to promote financial geography and shape its agenda. The key responsibilities of the Communications Officer would be the maintenance and development of FinGeo website and FinGeo’s presence in social media (LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter), blog curation, help with maintaining the membership database, as well as participation in the work of the FinGeo Executive Committee, including quarterly meetings via a teleconference. The work of the Communications Officer would be conducted in close collaboration with the Chair, the Secretary and other members of the Executive Committee. The initial appointment would be from 1 July 2018 for a period of two years. Candidates interested in the position should send a letter of motivation and CV to the Chair of FinGeo Dariusz Wójcik at dariusz.wojcik@spc.ox.ac.uk . Any queries regarding the advert should also be sent to this address. Applications close on 1 June 2018.
