8th FinGeo International Seminar: Contemporary Advances in Financial Geography

The 8th FinGeo International Seminar brings together international scholars, researchers, practitioners, and institutional representatives to explore contemporary advances in financial geography in a high-level, welcoming academic environment.

Hosted by the University of Bologna, in collaboration with the Department of Management, the Regional Studies Association, the journal Finance and Space, and STS Deloitte, the seminar addresses key topics such as FinTech, the AI–finance nexus, sustainable and climate finance, biofinance, development and social finance, geopolitics, and urban and real estate dynamics.


The programme includes keynote speeches, panels, short paper sessions, practitioner dialogues, site visits, and networking events, structured around major thematic nexuses:

  • Finance, development & social business

  • Environmental sustainability & finance

  • Technology, AI & finance

  • Urban development & real estate

  • Geopolitics, geoeconomics & geofinance

  • Spatial patterns in financial geography
